Scholarships

Beginning in 2007 the George & Enid Brooks Foundation has awarded several $1000 scholarships to Paterson, NJ high school seniors who were actively involved in their churches, performed community service, and intended to serve their communities upon graduation from college. Some of our past Scholarship recipients are pictured below.

How to apply for a scholarship

Scholarship applications are open to high school seniors living in or attending high school or church in Paterson, NJ. Interested high school seniors should contact the George & Enid Brooks Foundation to confirm scholarship availability, then click the button below for the current scholarship application.

Our Recent Scholarship Recipients

Jayla McDuffie 2017

  
Jayla McDuffie is a rising basketball star and 2017 graduate of International High School in Paterson, NJ.   She will be attending the American International College in Springfield, Massachusetts for the Fall 2017 semester, majoring in Accounting and also be a participant in the Honors program. McDuffie is an avid member of the Grace Chapel Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Gregory L. Wilson. While maintaining her 4.1 GPA, McDuffie remained involved in several ministries at Grace Chapel including Sunday School, Children’s Church, and the Youth Choir. McDuffie has devoted community service hours towards Breast Cancer walks, coat and toy drives, and feeding the homeless. Her educational aspirations consist of running her own accounting firm, while helping young athletes entering into the professional arena to balance, manage, and maintain their financial needs. She also plans to provide free training courses and seminars on techniques that focus on reinvesting back into their communities. 

Shanell Pommells 2017

Shanell Pommells will be graduating from Passaic County Technical Institute in June 2017, with a concentration in Criminal Justice. While in high school she participated in the SWAT Step Team and the Girl Scouts.  She is an active member at the Christian Fellowship Center and Outreach Ministries, participating in Youth in Action and serving as an usher. She has volunteered with the Special Olympics, and at homeless and women's shelters, and donated winter items through the Delta Gems.  Shanell will be attending Lincoln University in Pennsylvania in Fall 2017, pursuing a major in the field of Law Enforcement. Her goal is to work for the Department of Homeland Security.
